Why do You Need Curtain Linings for Your Curtains?

A curtain is a piece of cloth that can be used to cover the windows or doors. Sometimes these curtains are also referred to as drapes. Curtains are light weight and are not lined whereas drapes are heavy and are lined. Drapes look uniform and are used in living rooms and bedrooms.

The main function of curtain linings is, it provides fullness to a curtain and protects from the dust and grime entering through the window. These curtains traps heat between the curtain fabric and curtain lining and thus, we can say that it acts as an insulator. It helps you reduce street noise, it protects the fabric from any moisture that surrounds around on the window that is because of condensation.

Black out lining prevents entering of light into the room and makes it darker. Curtain liners are removable linings which can be used to cover the curtains. Here the color of the original curtain looks without any disturbance. It is better that if you have linen to your curtains so that it can be washed or replaced from the main curtain.

There are many reasons for using curtain linings:
  • It does not damage your fabric when it is exposed to harsh sun rays.
  • It gives complete look to your curtains.
  • It provides privacy by making thinner fabric less transparent.
  • Whenever you look windows from outside of your home, your curtain will looks uniform manner.
  • Thermal lining provides insulation which means it keeps your home warm in winter and cool in summer
  • Blackout linings will make a room darker by not allowing the light to enter from outside.

How to Keep Bed Sheets from Fading?

Bed sheets look attractive when they are not faded. The color of the bed sheets does not stay for a longer time due to many reasons such as improper laundry washing and sunlight etc. Below are some of the instructions for preventing the fading of color from the bed sheets.
  • Before washing your bed sheets, read the washing and caring instructions on the bedsheets label. Because it will give you the necessary washing precautions like sheets should be washed with a particular temperature with a certain colored clothes. Even you can find out drying precautions.
  • Sort the bed sheets according to the colors; that is separate the dark colors from the lighter colors before putting into washing machine.
  • Then add required amount of white vinegar solution to the load because this solution has the properties that will help prevent fading.
  • Before loading the bedsheets into the machine turn the inside outs as well as do not overload the washing machine because there will be a burden on the clothes. Some times sheets are not cleaned well because soap particles remains on it.
  • Always wash with hands or gentle cycle in washing machine.
  • Always wash the colored clothes in cold water because the color of the clothes won't fade in the cold water. In hot water, there is a chance of color fading.
  • Even if you overdry the clothes after washing, it will cause your colors to fade. If you use washing machine for drying the sheets, use a particular timer otherwise you dry your sheets in a shaded area.
