Many people tend to go for glow sticks which are available at much lower prices. It is a general tendency of a consumer to get attracted to cheaper goods when they found the expensive ones are also looking similar to these cheaper ones. However, there are so many disadvantages in preferring cheaper goods to expensive goods and they are as follows.
Quality: Quality is the main thing which is lacking in the cheap quality products always. As the producers of these goods compromise on the quality of the products and manufacture them with cheaper materials and hence sells them for cheaper prices too. Starting from the plastic to the chemical which is used in producing glow sticks they use less expensive raw material which are available at lower costs. This makes the products produced at lower charges. But when it comes to the hands of the consumer, low quality glow sticks result in various situations like crack and leak making the chemical to come out. Since, the chemical used is also cheap, it may cause allergies and harm the customer.
Durability: Durability of the glow sticks is also affected by the use of cheap quality raw material and low quality products. The manufacturers of the glow sticks use recycling plastic in place of the good quality plastic and try to lower their expenses. Because of the use of low quality chemicals which cannot work effectively for longer periods, in less time they loose their natural properties and will not glow when we use it after some days of storage.
Intensity: When compared to the high quality glow sticks cheap quality glow sticks glow with less intensity and hence do not work efficiently. Moreover, they will also glow for lesser time intervals. For instance if a 4'' glow stick glows for 12 hours, the cheap quality glow stick glows only for 6-8 hours due to the presence of low quality chemicals.
So, it is always better to go for high quality glow sticks even though they are a bit high of cost when compared to cheap quality glow sticks.
