Seven Steps To Make Curtains From Bedsheets

Flat bed sheets are also used to make curtains as they provide required amount of the fabric needed to make the curtains. Following are the steps to convert bed sheets in to curtains:

Understand the Measurements:
First step in this process is to know the measurements of the curtain to be made, as knowing the measurements makes the following steps in the process easy.

Sewing Supplies:
Next step is to find out the bedsheets required for making the curtains, at the same time the materials and supplies required for sewing the curtains are also gathered, now the actual sewing process starts.

Opening Seams:
Next step in the process is to open the sides seams of the hem at the top of the bed sheet with the help of a seam ripper.

Measure Width of Curtain Rod:
After opening the seams, measure the width of the curtain rod to which the curtains are to be hanged and it is better to add width plus a 1/4 inch for movement within a rod pocket.

Make A Rod Pocket:
Make a straight horizontal stitch above the hemline of the sheet, accommodating for the width of the curtain rod. The remaining fabric at the top of the sheet will become the ruffle.

Ironing:
Sixth step in the process is ironing the sheets and with iron they are made to look flat.

Hanging:
This is the last step in the process and in this step the curtain rods are inserted in to the pockets of the curtains. Then these rods are fixed to the walls and the curtain are hanged with the help of rods.
