Know About Internet Addiction

Internet addiction is the excessive use of computer or internet that interferes with daily life and this type of addiction is not identified as as a psychological disorder. This is divided in to sub categories by activity, such as excessive, overwhelming gaming, online social networking, blogging, email, Internet shopping and surfing. Many people turn to the Internet in order to protect themselves from unpleasant feelings such as stress, loneliness, depression, and anxiety. Teenagers are most susceptible to Internet addiction.

Symptoms of the internet addiction includes increase in the amounts of time spent on computer and internet activities, neglecting friends and family, feeling restless, being dishonest with others, Changes in sleep patterns, failed attempts to control behavior and the physical symptoms includes weight gain or loss, backaches, headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome.

Effects of internet addiction:
Internet addiction may effect the health as well as life style of the individual who are addicted to it, and it may lead to the inability to communicate in the real world. Internet addiction disrupts relationships with family and friends. The internet addiction may also lead to online gambling addiction as the number of websites doing gambling are also increased. Internet addiction also creates problems at school or work place as a result of the time spent and the type of activities accessed on the computer. Individuals addicted to internet feel anxious, depressed, or irritable when your computer time is shortened or interrupted. Over exposure to the explicit material available online can lead to sexual addiction which creates negative legal, emotional, career or physical consequences.
