Why do You Need Curtain Linings for Your Curtains?

A curtain is a piece of cloth that can be used to cover the windows or doors. Sometimes these curtains are also referred to as drapes. Curtains are light weight and are not lined whereas drapes are heavy and are lined. Drapes look uniform and are used in living rooms and bedrooms.

The main function of curtain linings is, it provides fullness to a curtain and protects from the dust and grime entering through the window. These curtains traps heat between the curtain fabric and curtain lining and thus, we can say that it acts as an insulator. It helps you reduce street noise, it protects the fabric from any moisture that surrounds around on the window that is because of condensation.

Black out lining prevents entering of light into the room and makes it darker. Curtain liners are removable linings which can be used to cover the curtains. Here the color of the original curtain looks without any disturbance. It is better that if you have linen to your curtains so that it can be washed or replaced from the main curtain.

There are many reasons for using curtain linings:
  • It does not damage your fabric when it is exposed to harsh sun rays.
  • It gives complete look to your curtains.
  • It provides privacy by making thinner fabric less transparent.
  • Whenever you look windows from outside of your home, your curtain will looks uniform manner.
  • Thermal lining provides insulation which means it keeps your home warm in winter and cool in summer
  • Blackout linings will make a room darker by not allowing the light to enter from outside.
